About this tour

Carnival Magic is a large nighttime theme park on Kamala Beach in Phuket, sharing a site with Phuket FantaSea. It opened in 2022 and holds Guinness World Records for its LED light structures. Everything here happens after dark: parades, a themed light garden, carnival games and a buffet dinner. It works well for families with children and for couples who want a photo-heavy evening rather than another temple or beach visit.

The park is built around a few distinct zones, and you'll move through them across the evening:

  • Carnival fairground — the entrance area, with painted buildings, music, game stalls, snack counters and souvenir shops to walk through before the main show.
  • Kingdom of Lights — themed gardens lit by more than 40 million LED lights. This is the part most people photograph, so keep a charged camera or phone on you.
  • Bird of Paradise buffet — a large air-conditioned dining hall with a mixed spread of oriental, western, Indian, vegetarian and Halal dishes. Dinner service runs from roughly 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, so it is meant to be eaten before the parade.
  • River Palace — the main indoor, air-conditioned theatre, about 16,000 sq m and seating around 2,200 people. It hosts the River Carnival parade show: close to 50 minutes featuring 88 floats and roughly 300 performers, with some costumes standing several metres tall.

Who it suits

The main draw is that one venue covers a wide age range in a single evening. The lights and floats hold children's attention, the parade is a seated show in air conditioning that older travellers manage comfortably, and the lit gardens give couples plenty to photograph. Because dinner is built in and includes vegetarian and Indian-style food, there is no need to plan a separate meal afterwards.

Good to know: the park opens only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, so it has to be slotted into your Phuket itinerary on one of those days. Allow time before the parade; we reconfirm the current show timing and your seating on WhatsApp ahead of your visit.

Please note: Note that the park is only open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. ? The park is open from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM. ? The main show typically starts at 8:30 PM, and buffet dinner hours are from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

Quick tips for your trip

  • Recommended Time to Visit: This is an evening-only attraction, open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Plan to arrive in the early evening so you can enjoy the buffet (from around 5:30 PM) and reach your seats well before the parade — arriving about 90 minutes ahead is ideal.
  • Dress Code: No formal dress code. Wear comfortable clothes and walking-friendly footwear, as you'll move between zones. The theatre and dining hall are air-conditioned, so a light layer is handy.
  • Photography Tip: The Kingdom of Lights is the strongest spot for photos, since the 40-million-light gardens only read well once it is fully dark. Camera rules inside the parade theatre can change, so we confirm the current policy on WhatsApp.
  • Recommended Visit Duration: Plan for about 3 to 4 hours to comfortably enjoy the fairground, dinner buffet, the light gardens and the main show without rushing.

Frequently asked questions

  • Are there vegetarian and Indian options at the buffet?

Yes. The Bird of Paradise buffet runs a mixed spread that includes Indian, vegetarian and Halal dishes alongside oriental and western fare, which covers most vegetarian and Jain-leaning diets as well as anyone who prefers familiar food. Dinner is served from around 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, ahead of the main show.

  • Does it work for young children and grandparents together?

Yes, the format suits a mixed-age group. The lights, floats and carnival games keep children occupied, and the parade is watched from a fixed seat inside an air-conditioned theatre, which is undemanding for older travellers. The one thing to plan for is the walking between zones, so we recommend an unhurried start and arriving a little early.

  • Which days is the park open, and what time does the show start?

Carnival Magic runs only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM. The buffet typically opens around 5:30 PM and the main River Carnival parade usually starts at about 8:30 PM. Timings can change, so we always reconfirm the current schedule with you on WhatsApp before your visit.

  • What is the location, and how long is the drive from Patong?

It sits in Kamala, within Phuket's Kathu district, alongside Phuket FantaSea. From Patong Beach that is about 7 km, or roughly 10 to 15 minutes by road; Phuket Town is a longer drive. Most visitors come by metered taxi or a Grab booking, and we can set up a paid hotel transfer instead if that suits you better.

  • Does the ticket include transport from my hotel?

No. The standard ticket covers park entry, the light zones, the parade show and the buffet, but not transfers; hotel pickup and drop-off are a paid add-on. Send us your hotel name on WhatsApp and we will quote and book the transfer for you if you want it included.
