About this tour

Phuket FantaSea is a nighttime cultural theme park in Kamala, on Phuket's west coast. Its centrepiece, the "Fantasy of a Kingdom" stage show, runs about 70 minutes and combines classical Thai dance, acrobatics, illusion, pyrotechnics and live elephants in a single production staged in a 3,000-seat indoor theatre. The park is built around a full evening rather than the show alone, so most visitors arrive while it is still light, walk the grounds, have dinner, and take their seats later for the performance.

Trip Dust sells two versions of the ticket: the show on its own, or the show plus a buffet dinner. Infants are free on either. For travellers who eat vegetarian, the buffet option is usually the simpler choice, as the Golden Kinnaree restaurant labels its vegetarian dishes clearly and you avoid looking for a veg meal elsewhere beforehand.

The evening is organised into three parts:

  • Festival Village is the shopping and entertainment area you pass through on arrival, with handicraft and souvenir stalls, carnival games and roaming street performers. It fills the time before the show begins.
  • The Golden Kinnaree buffet is a large dining hall serving Thai and international food, including vegetarian, non-vegetarian and Halal-friendly dishes. It is included only on the Show And Buffet Dinner package.
  • The "Fantasy of a Kingdom" show is the 70-minute performance in the air-conditioned theatre, with dancers, aerial acts, stage effects and elephants, framed around Thai legend and the mythical Kamala kingdom.

Because the main attraction is a seated performance, the evening works for a wide mix of ages, including older relatives, with the caveat that the park is large and there is a reasonable amount of walking between the three areas. Two practical points worth knowing in advance: photography and video are not permitted inside the theatre, and the hall is kept cold, so a light jacket is useful.

Please note: Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited inside the theatre. The theatre is air-conditioned and can be chilly, so a light jacket is recommended.

Quick tips for your trip

  • Check the day first. The park opens only on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, so confirm your date falls on one of these before booking. Gates open at 5:30 PM, and arriving close to opening leaves enough time for Festival Village and dinner ahead of the show.
  • Plan for a long evening. Opening hours run from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM, last entry is 8:00 PM, and the show itself lasts roughly 70 minutes. Allowing four to six hours covers the village, the meal and the performance at an unhurried pace.
  • Dress for the air-conditioning. There is no formal dress code; smart-casual clothing is fine. The theatre is kept cold, so bring a light jacket or shawl, and choose comfortable shoes since the walk between the park areas adds up.
  • Use your camera before the show. Festival Village and the grounds are open for photos, but photography and video are not permitted inside the theatre. Once you are seated for the performance, put the camera away.
  • Eat at the buffet if you book it. On the Show And Buffet Dinner package, dinner is served before the performance, so there is no need to plan a separate meal. On Show Only, eat beforehand, as no food is included with that ticket.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does the buffet cover vegetarian and Indian diets?

On the Show And Buffet Dinner package, yes. The Golden Kinnaree restaurant runs a large Thai and international buffet with vegetarian dishes labelled and Halal-friendly choices available, which covers most veg and Jain-leaning eaters. The Show Only ticket does not include any meal, so plan to eat beforehand; we can point you to options nearby over WhatsApp.

  • Will it work for a group that includes children and older relatives?

It tends to, because the core of the visit is a seated show that asks little of anyone physically. Children usually respond to the elephants, carnival games and street acts, while seniors can watch the performance from a fixed seat. The one thing to account for is distance: getting between Festival Village, the restaurant and the theatre involves a fair walk, so leave time and do not rush it.

  • Where exactly is the park, and how do we reach it?

It sits in Kamala, part of Phuket's Kathu district, on the far side of the hill from Patong, about 15 to 20 minutes by road. Most visitors arrive by metered taxi or a Grab booking. The ticket does not include transfers, but we can set up a private hotel pickup and return for a fee; tell us your hotel and show date on WhatsApp and we will quote it and lock in the pickup time.

  • Are cameras and phones allowed during the performance?

No. Photography and video are not permitted once you are inside the theatre, and the rule is enforced. Outside the theatre there is no restriction, so Festival Village and the park grounds are open for photos before the show starts.

  • Which days does it run, and how much time should we keep aside?

The park opens on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays only, from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM, with last entry at 8:00 PM; the main show starts at around 9 PM. Keeping four to six hours free lets you take in Festival Village, dinner and the 70-minute performance without watching the clock.
