Thailand Tour Packages from Chennai
Chennai sits closer to Thailand than almost any other major Indian city — a direct flight to Bangkok from Chennai International Airport (MAA) lands in roughly 3 hours 20 minutes. That means less time in the air and more time on a long-tail boat in Phuket or watching the skyline from Bangkok. Trip Dust builds land packages around what actually matters: the activities you do, the private transfer that picks you up on time, and the Indian food options that mean your grandmother isn't eating pad thai every night.
We are a TAT-registered Thailand tour operator. Our team speaks Hindi and English, handles WhatsApp bookings at any hour, and has worked with hundreds of Indian families — including many from Tamil Nadu — who wanted Thailand done properly without paying for a hotel you barely use.
Flying from Chennai to Thailand
Chennai International Airport (IATA: MAA) is well-connected to Thailand's two main arrival hubs:
- Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK): The most popular entry point. IndiGo and Thai Airways both operate direct services — IndiGo runs around 5 non-stop flights per week, Thai Airways around 7. Flight time is approximately 3 hours 20–30 minutes. Fares vary; check directly with airlines or aggregators as prices change seasonally.
- Phuket (HKT): Thai AirAsia operates a direct service from MAA (around 3 hours 10 minutes). Most other airlines connect through Bangkok, which adds transfer time. If your package focuses on Phuket and Krabi, flying direct into HKT saves half a day.
Flights are not included in our land packages. We keep them separate so you book the fare that suits your dates and budget — and you're not locked into a seat someone else chose for you.
What a Trip Dust Land Package Actually Includes
Our packages are built around activities and private transfers — not padded with hotel nights you didn't ask for.
- Activities: Coral Island, Alcazar Show, Safari World, Phi Phi Island, James Bond Island — booked in your name, with an English or Hindi-speaking guide where applicable.
- Private transfers: Airport pickup, hotel-to-attraction runs, inter-city legs (Bangkok to Pattaya, Pattaya to Bangkok airport, etc.) — your own vehicle, not a shared bus.
- Hotels (optional): We can add hotel accommodation if you want the full package, or you can handle your own bookings. Either way, we work around your stay.
- Indian / vegetarian / Jain food support: We know which restaurants near each destination serve proper dals, rotis and Jain thalis. We share the list so your family eats well every day.
- WhatsApp support: Our team is reachable at +66 82 885 5990. Message us before you fly, from the airport, or mid-trip — we respond.
For a family of four, a shared group-priced activity ticket can cost far less than booking separately. That's where the real value sits.
Packages That Work Well from Chennai
These itineraries are popular with Chennai travellers because the geography makes sense: fly into Bangkok, move south to Pattaya, or fly into Phuket for the islands. All are available as land-only packages.
- Pattaya 4 Days — A tight, focused itinerary covering Coral Island, the shows, and the city. Good first Thailand trip for a family that wants to keep it simple.
- Bangkok + Pattaya 6 Days — The classic two-city combination. Enough time to do Safari World, the Grand Palace area, Coral Island, and Alcazar without rushing.
- Phuket 4 Days — Phi Phi Island, James Bond Island, and the Andaman sea at its best. Fly into HKT if the direct route from MAA suits your dates.
If you want something tailored — different cities, more days, a Krabi extension, or a Chiang Mai add-on — use our custom package form and we'll plan it around your group.
Why Chennai Families Choose Trip Dust
We've noticed a few things that come up again and again with Chennai travellers specifically:
- Large family groups: Travelling with parents, in-laws, and kids is common. Private transfers become essential — you cannot load eight people and four suitcases into a shared taxi comfortably. Our private vehicle bookings scale with group size.
- Vegetarian and Jain requirements: South Indian families often have strict requirements. We know which Pattaya, Bangkok, and Phuket restaurants reliably serve vegetarian or Jain options, and we'll share that list before you travel.
- Pay-on-pickup on select activities: You don't always have to pay everything upfront. We offer pay-on-pickup on select activities, which suits families who prefer flexibility.
- Hindi and English communication: Our team handles both. If your parents are more comfortable in Hindi, that's fine — so are we.
Best Months to Travel from Chennai
Thailand's cool, dry season runs from November to February — clear skies, calm seas, and comfortable temperatures around 25–30°C. This is the most popular period for Indian families and tends to coincide with school holidays in December and January, so book early.
October is worth considering if your dates are flexible: the weather is close to the cool season standard on the eastern coast (Pattaya, Bangkok) and prices are noticeably lower than peak December. Phuket's Andaman side is best avoided from May to October when the sea gets choppy, though Bangkok and Pattaya remain perfectly fine year-round.
From Chennai, November through February is the sweet spot. If you're travelling with school-age children, the December and April school break windows fill up fast — plan at least 6–8 weeks ahead for those dates.
Visa for Indian Passport Holders
As of mid-2026, Indian passport holders still enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days. Thailand's Cabinet has approved replacing this with a 15-day stay plus a ฿2,000 visa-on-arrival (VOA) — but that change is pending Royal Gazette publication and not yet in force.
You will also need to complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before you fly. Because the rules are changing, always confirm the latest with the Royal Thai Embassy — full details in our Thailand visa guide for Indians.

FAQs — Thailand from Chennai
Do I need a visa to enter Thailand from Chennai?
As of mid-2026, Indian passport holders still get up to 60 days visa-free in Thailand. Thailand has approved replacing this with a 15-day stay plus a ฿2,000 visa-on-arrival, but it is pending official (Royal Gazette) publication and not yet in force. Because this is changing, always confirm the current rule with the Royal Thai Embassy before you travel — see our Thailand visa guide for Indians for the latest.
Are there direct flights from Chennai to Thailand?
Yes. Chennai Airport (MAA) has direct non-stop flights to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) operated by IndiGo and Thai Airways, with a flight time of around 3 hours 20–30 minutes. Thai AirAsia also operates a direct service from Chennai to Phuket (HKT), approximately 3 hours 10 minutes. Flight prices vary by season and booking window — check current fares directly with airlines.
How much does a Thailand trip from Chennai cost for a family of four?
Our land packages cover activities and private transfers; flights are separate and booked independently. Land package pricing depends on the number of days, cities, activities chosen, and whether you add hotel accommodation. Visit our packages page or use the customise form for an accurate quote — we do not publish a single price because every family's itinerary is different.
Is vegetarian and Jain food available in Thailand?
Yes, though it requires knowing where to look. Indian vegetarian restaurants operate in Pattaya, Bangkok, and Phuket's Patong area. Jain options (no root vegetables, no onion/garlic) are available at select Indian restaurants in each city. Trip Dust shares a curated restaurant list with every booking so your family eats well without guesswork.
Can we travel to Thailand with children?
Absolutely. Thailand is very family-friendly. Activities like Coral Island, Safari World, and the various show experiences work well for children of most ages. Private transfers mean you travel on your own schedule — no waiting for a shared bus to fill up. Our team can tailor the pace of your itinerary to suit younger children or elderly family members.
Which Thailand cities can we cover from Chennai on a one-week trip?
A week comfortably covers two cities. The most popular combination for Chennai travellers is Bangkok and Pattaya (fly into BKK, spend a few days in Bangkok, then transfer to Pattaya). Phuket with a Krabi extension is the other popular option (fly into HKT). Three cities in a week is possible but tends to feel rushed — we usually recommend focusing on two and doing them properly.
