About this tour
Dolphins Bay Phuket is a marine performance venue in Chalong, about a 15-minute drive south of Phuket Town. It shares a site with Phuket Zoo, so the two are often visited on the same trip. The format is a seated indoor show rather than a hands-on attraction, which makes it a straightforward outing for families with younger children.
The main event is a live show of roughly 40 minutes featuring trained dolphins alongside a group of fur seals. The dolphins perform jumps, spins and tail-walks and respond to cues from their handlers; guests seated in the front rows are sometimes splashed during the bigger jumps. The show takes place in a covered arena, so it runs regardless of the weather. Trip Dust books your tickets ahead of time, so you can go directly to your seats on arrival.
What a visit typically involves:
- The dolphin segment, which forms the longest part of the programme and includes high jumps, synchronised spins, tail-walks and a few trainer-led routines.
- A fur-seal act that opens the show, with the seals balancing objects, clapping and playing to the audience.
- Seat tiers in four grades: Regular, Deluxe, VIP and VVIP. Closer seats give a better view but carry a higher chance of getting wet; the rear rows stay dry.
- Photos and add-ons: a posed photo with a dolphin can be paid for on site after the show, and a swim-with-dolphins or "magic touch" session can be booked in advance as a separate experience.
The visit works well for families, couples and small groups wanting a short indoor break from the beach and the midday heat. Everyone stays seated throughout, with no swimming or physical effort involved in watching the show, which keeps it manageable for both older relatives and small children.
Please note: Closed on Mondays · shows run at 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM & 5:00 PM. Please book at least 1 day in advance and arrive 30 minutes before your show. Children under 90 cm enter free (no seat); 90–130 cm pay the child rate; over 130 cm pay the adult rate. Front rows (VIP/VVIP) may get splashed — the rear Regular/Deluxe rows stay dry. Swim-with-a-dolphin is a separate add-on (ages 6 and over) booked on request, subject to availability and written confirmation. Tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable.

Quick tips for your trip
- Recommended time to visit: There are usually three shows daily, at about 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, with the venue normally closed on Mondays. Timings change from time to time, so we confirm the exact show times for your date on WhatsApp before you travel.
- Where to sit: The VIP and VVIP rows at the front give the closest view but have the highest chance of a splash. If you prefer to stay dry, choose the Regular or Deluxe rows further back.
- Photography tip: Photos and videos from your seat are allowed. Avoid using flash, since it can disturb the animals, and keep your phone in a pouch if you are seated near the front. A posed photo with a dolphin is sold separately on site after the show.
- How long to allow: The show itself runs about 40 minutes. Allow 1 to 1.5 hours in total once you factor in seating, photos and a brief look around, which fits neatly alongside a visit to the adjacent Phuket Zoo.

Frequently asked questions
-
What are the show times, and which day is it closed?
There are three shows a day — at 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM — and the venue is closed on Mondays. Please book at least one day in advance, and aim to arrive about 30 minutes before your chosen show. Show timings can change from time to time, so we re-confirm the exact time for your date on WhatsApp before you travel.
-
How are children charged, and is there an age or height rule?
Children under 90 cm in height enter free but are not given a separate seat. Children between 90 cm and 130 cm are charged at the child rate, and anyone over 130 cm pays the adult rate. For the separate swim-with-a-dolphin add-on, swimmers must be aged 6 and over; children aged 4–5 may take part only when accompanied by a parent who also buys a full-price ticket.
-
Does this work for young children and older travellers?
Yes. The whole performance is watched from a seat in a covered arena, with nothing physically demanding and nothing likely to frighten small children. Younger kids tend to enjoy the animals, and the shaded, seated format suits older parents and grandparents who would rather not be on their feet. Infants under roughly 90 cm are admitted free and do not take a separate seat.
-
How far is the venue from Phuket Town and Patong?
Dolphins Bay sits in Chalong, towards the south of Phuket. Allow around 15 minutes by road from Phuket Town and roughly 30 to 45 minutes from Patong, depending on traffic. Phuket Zoo is on the same site, which is why many visitors combine the two. Return hotel transfers are not included by default but can be added for a fee; message us on WhatsApp if you want this arranged.
-
Are photos and videos allowed during the show?
You may film and photograph from your seat. Please switch off the flash, as it can disturb the animals. A closer, posed photo with a dolphin is handled by the venue as a paid session after the show ends.
-
Can we swim with or touch the dolphins?
The standard ticket covers the seated show only. Swimming with the dolphins and the "magic touch" interaction are run as separate paid activities, generally for ages 6 and above. These need to be reserved ahead of your visit, so tell us your date in advance on WhatsApp and we will check what is available.
-
Is there vegetarian or Indian food nearby?
Because the show lasts only about 40 minutes, most guests eat before or after rather than on site. Chalong and the route back towards Phuket Town have a good range of restaurants, and vegetarian dishes are widely available. Let us know your preferences and we can suggest veg-friendly places close to where you will be.
