About this tour
Underwater World Pattaya was among Thailand's earliest acrylic-tunnel aquariums. It is fully indoor and air-conditioned, and houses more than 5,000 marine animals, many of them native to the seas around Thailand. The route takes you past tanks of coral, jellyfish and seahorses before reaching the main ocean tunnel, where sharks, stingrays and turtles swim overhead and on either side. Trip Dust supplies a confirmed entry ticket and answers your questions on WhatsApp, which keeps the visit simple to plan around the rest of your Pattaya itinerary.
The aquarium is divided into themed zones, each holding a different group of species:
- Coral Reef Zone — tanks of clownfish, parrotfish and other tropical reef fish kept among living coral.
- Open Ocean Zone (the tunnel) — the main draw, a 100-metre clear acrylic walk-through tunnel with blacktip reef sharks, eagle rays, large groupers and sea turtles.
- Giant of Siam Zone — the large freshwater fish of Thailand's rivers, including the Siamese giant carp, which can grow to several metres.
- Jellyfish Zone — low-lit, colour-changing tanks holding what the aquarium describes as one of Thailand's largest jellyfish displays.
- Touch Pool & Seahorse area — a shallow pool where children can handle starfish and sea cucumbers under supervision, alongside a seahorse tank.
- Reptiles Zone & Magic Tank — a small reptile section and an optical-illusion tank aimed at younger visitors.
At set times during the day, divers run feeding shows at the larger tanks, hand-feeding the sharks, rays and giant fish while explaining each species. Walkways are flat and entirely indoors, which makes the layout manageable for grandparents and young children alike. For anyone interested in marine life, or simply looking for a cool indoor stop on a hot Pattaya afternoon, it covers both.

Quick tips for your trip
- Recommended Time to Visit: Crowds are lightest on weekday mornings and after 3:00 PM. Feeding shows generally run mid-morning and mid-afternoon, so it is worth arriving for one; ask us on WhatsApp for the current schedule.
- Dress Code: None. Comfortable clothes and walking shoes are fine. The building is air-conditioned, so a light layer can help if you feel the cold.
- Photography Tip: Photos are allowed. Turn off your flash, since it bounces off the acrylic, and use a low-light or aquarium mode. Holding the lens flush against the glass gives the cleanest shots in the tunnel.
- Recommended Visit Duration: Allow one to two hours. That covers every zone, the tunnel and a feeding show, with time for photos.

Frequently asked questions
-
Does it work for young children and older travellers?
Yes. The walkways are flat, indoor and air-conditioned, with no steps to climb or uneven ground, so the route is easy to manage at a slow pace. Children tend to gravitate to the touch pool and the feeding shows, and older visitors appreciate being out of the sun for an hour or two.
-
Where is the aquarium, and what is the best way to reach it?
It sits on Sukhumvit Road in Bang Lamung, towards the southern end of Pattaya near Jomtien, about 8 km from Pattaya Beach and Walking Street, or 15 to 20 minutes by road. A Grab car, metered taxi or songthaew (baht bus) all work. Hotel pick-up is not part of the ticket, but we can add it for a fee if you message us on WhatsApp.
-
Can I take photos and videos inside?
Photography and video are permitted throughout. The one rule that matters is no flash, because it reflects off the acrylic panels and ruins the shot. A phone held against the glass on low-light mode handles the tunnel well.
-
Is vegetarian or Indian food available nearby?
Since the visit runs only one to two hours, most guests eat before or afterwards. Cafes and restaurants along Sukhumvit Road and in central Pattaya and Jomtien cater to vegetarians. If you want a vegetarian or Indian meal built into the day, let us know on WhatsApp and we will point you to the closest options.
-
What are the opening hours, and how early should I book?
The aquarium usually runs from 9:00 AM to around 6:00 PM, with last entry near 5:30 PM; we reconfirm the day's hours on WhatsApp. Tickets are issued in advance, so book at least 24 hours ahead and we will send the confirmation before your visit.
