Bangkok & Phuket 6-Day Itinerary: City Plus Islands

Bangkok and Phuket is the classic two-city Thailand trip: three nights in the capital for temples, shopping and a dinner cruise, then south to Phuket for the islands and the big cultural show. Six days is the sweet spot — long enough to see both properly without rushing, short enough to fit a working family's leave. The two cities are linked by a quick domestic flight, so you swap the city for the sea in a single morning.

The one thing to plan early is the Bangkok to Phuket domestic flight, which is booked separately from any land arrangements and decides the shape of Day 4. If you would rather have the whole route handled — transfers, activities and the timing around that flight — our Bangkok and Phuket 6-day package follows this exact itinerary. Indian travellers still get up to 60 days visa-free as of mid-2026; complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card before flying and confirm the latest rules first.

Days 1–3: Bangkok

Day 1 is an easy start: settle into your hotel and head out in the evening for the Chao Phraya Princess dinner cruise, which floats past the floodlit Grand Palace and Wat Arun with a buffet on board. Day 2 belongs to Safari World — allow a full day for the drive-through safari and the marine shows, a reliable favourite with children. Round it off with an evening at Asiatique riverside, which needs no ticket.

Day 3 is for the city itself: the Grand Palace and Wat Pho in the morning (dress code: shoulders and knees covered), then a sunset slot at the King Power Mahanakhon SkyWalk for the best high view in Bangkok. For a fuller breakdown of the capital on its own, our Bangkok 3-day itinerary covers the temples, markets and food areas in detail.

Day 4: Fly to Phuket + FantaSea

Take a morning or early-afternoon flight from Bangkok to Phuket — the hop is around 1 hour 25 minutes and runs frequently through the day. Booking it early keeps the fare down and gives you the afternoon on the island. Check into a hotel around Kamala or Patong, then spend the evening at Phuket FantaSea, a large-scale cultural show with a buffet dinner that is suitable for all ages.

One scheduling note: FantaSea runs only on selected evenings (typically Tuesday, Friday and Sunday), so line up your Phuket dates accordingly. If your flight lands later than planned, keep the first evening light and move the show to the next night.

Day 5: Phi Phi Island

Give Day 5 to the islands. A speedboat day to Phi Phi Island takes in Maya Bay, snorkelling stops and lunch, usually running from around 8am to 4pm with the national-park fee included on most organised trips. The open-water crossing can be fast and bumpy, so it is not advised for pregnant travellers or anyone with back or heart concerns — a calmer alternative is the James Bond Island tour by longer, slower boat through Phang Nga Bay.

Back on shore, spend the evening in Phuket Old Town, where the Sino-Portuguese streets, cafés and Sunday walking market make for a relaxed last night.

Day 6: Departure

Use the morning for any last beach time or souvenir shopping before transferring to Phuket airport. If your international flight routes back through Bangkok, allow a comfortable connection. Travelling as an open-jaw — into Bangkok, out of Phuket — avoids backtracking entirely and is usually the smartest way to book this trip.

Food, Transfers and Booking

Both cities have good Indian and vegetarian options — Sukhumvit in Bangkok and the Patong and Bangla areas in Phuket have several restaurants, and Jain meals can be arranged with notice, especially on the full-day boat trips. Between the airport runs, the inter-city flight timing and the island days, the logistics are the main work on this trip. Trip Dust can take all of that on through the 6-day land package, or you can adjust the route to add Krabi or extra beach days.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Bangkok to Phuket flight included in a package?

No — the domestic flight is booked separately and is not part of the land package price. The itinerary is planned around you holding a Day 4 flight, ideally a morning or early-afternoon departure so you reach the FantaSea show comfortably. We are happy to advise on timings, but the ticket itself is arranged on its own.

Is 6 days enough for Bangkok and Phuket?

Yes. Three nights in Bangkok cover the temples, a cruise and Safari World, and two nights in Phuket cover one island day plus the FantaSea show. If you want two island days or to add Krabi, stretch it to seven or eight days.

Should I fly into Bangkok and out of Phuket?

For this itinerary, yes — an open-jaw ticket (in to Bangkok, out from Phuket) avoids doubling back and usually costs little more than a return. It saves a day of travel and lets the trip flow in one direction.

Does the Phi Phi day suit non-swimmers and families?

Families enjoy it, and you can take part from the boat and beach without swimming, with life jackets provided. The speedboat crossing is fast, though, so for pregnant travellers or anyone with back or heart trouble the slower James Bond Island tour is the gentler choice.
