About this tour

Dino Park Phuket is an 18-hole mini-golf course laid out across a landscaped, jungle-style hillside between Karon and Kata beaches. The holes wind past life-size dinosaur models, an erupting-volcano feature, a waterfall, walk-through caves and a large Tyrannosaurus Rex, with lighting and recorded sound effects along the route. You play at your own pace, so a full round and a wander through the grounds usually take about an hour and a half.

You do not need to play to enjoy it. Plenty of visitors come mainly to walk the stone path and look at the dinosaurs. The main features include:

  • 18-hole course — each hole is built into the surrounding scenery and is straightforward enough for beginners and children.
  • Life-size dinosaurs — several of them move and make sounds, which younger children tend to find a mix of exciting and slightly intimidating.
  • Volcano, waterfall & caves — the route runs past a smoking volcano, under a waterfall and through cave sections.
  • Evening lighting — after dark the grounds are lit and the volcano glows, which is why many visitors prefer to come from late afternoon onwards.
  • Stone Age restaurant & bar — a Flintstones-style venue on site for a drink or a meal after your round.

Who it suits

The park works well for families with children, couples after something low-key and photogenic, and groups wanting an easy evening between beach days. There is no adrenaline element, no swimming and no fitness requirement, so it suits visitors travelling with parents or younger children. Note that the trail includes steps and slopes and is not stroller- or wheelchair-friendly.

Quick tips for your trip

  • Recommended time to visit: Aim for late afternoon into the evening: you get daylight for the dinosaurs first, then the lighting and glowing volcano once it is dark. The park usually opens daily from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with last entry around 10:00 PM; we confirm current timings on WhatsApp.
  • What to wear: Comfortable clothes and closed, flat walking shoes, since the trail has steps, slopes and the occasional damp patch near the waterfall. Bring a light layer for the evening.
  • Photography: Photos are allowed throughout. The T-Rex and the volcano are the obvious spots, and the lit scenes after sunset photograph well.
  • Good to know: Because of the steps and slopes, the park is not stroller- or wheelchair-accessible. A Stone Age-themed restaurant on site serves snacks and drinks.
  • Recommended visit duration: Allow about 1.5 hours to play all 18 holes and take in the scenery without rushing; less if you only want to walk the trail.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can young children and older parents manage the visit?

Mostly, yes. There is no adrenaline element, and children usually enjoy the dinosaurs that move and make sounds, though a few of the larger ones can unsettle very young kids. The main thing to weigh is mobility: the trail has steps and slopes and no stroller or wheelchair access, so it works best for older relatives who are fine with a bit of walking and stairs.

  • When is the best time of day to go?

Late afternoon into the evening tends to work best. You arrive with enough daylight to see the dinosaurs clearly, then stay as the grounds light up and the volcano glows after dark, which is also when the scenes photograph best. The park is usually open until about 11:00 PM, and we will confirm the exact timings for your date on WhatsApp.

  • Whereabouts is the park, and how close is it to the beaches?

The park sits on Karon Road, on the hillside that separates Karon and Kata beaches in southern Phuket. From most hotels in either area it is a short walk or a few minutes in a Grab or taxi; from Patong, allow roughly 20 to 30 minutes by road. Send us your hotel on WhatsApp and we will pass on the precise location and directions.

  • Are vegetarian or Indian meals available nearby?

On site there is the Stone Age-themed restaurant and bar, which is geared more towards drinks and light bites. For a full vegetarian or Indian meal, you have a wider choice in Karon and Kata a few minutes away. Since the visit runs only about 1.5 hours, most guests eat either side of it; let us know what you are after and we will suggest specific places.

  • Can I take photos, and do I need any golf experience?

Photography is allowed everywhere in the park, and the lit scenes after dark are particularly worth a few shots. No golf experience is needed: the 18 holes are deliberately easy, so first-timers and children get through them without trouble. Clubs and balls are included.
