Bangkok & Pattaya 6-Day Itinerary: The Easy Two-City Trip

Bangkok and Pattaya is the most popular first Thailand trip for Indian families, and for good reason: both cities use the same Bangkok airport, the drive between them is only about 90 minutes, and there is no domestic flight to book. Six days gives you three nights in each — beaches, a water-sports island day and a cabaret show in Pattaya, then temples, a dinner cruise and Safari World in Bangkok. It is the lowest-stress two-city route in the country.

This itinerary follows the same shape as our Bangkok and Pattaya 6-day package, so you can either plan it yourself or have the transfers and activities handled. Indian passport holders still get up to 60 days visa-free as of mid-2026 — complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card before you fly and confirm the current rules, as they are due to change.

Days 1–3: Pattaya

From Bangkok airport it is a straight 90-minute drive to Pattaya, so you can start on arrival day. Settle in, then catch the Alcazar show in the evening — a long-running cabaret with VIP seating that works as a family outing. Day 2 is the big one: a full day on Coral Island with a speedboat crossing, parasailing, snorkelling and lunch on the beach.

Day 3 mixes culture and calm — the Sanctuary of Truth, an extraordinary all-teak carved temple on the seafront, in the morning, then the Nong Nooch tropical gardens or a relaxed afternoon by the pool. If you are travelling with children, swap in a water park or the underwater aquarium.

Day 4: Pattaya to Bangkok + Dinner Cruise

Drive back to Bangkok in the morning — under two hours — and check into your city hotel. Keep the afternoon light for a first look at the markets or a mall, then spend the evening on the Chao Phraya Princess dinner cruise, gliding past the illuminated Grand Palace and Wat Arun with a buffet dinner on board. It is the single best-value evening in Bangkok and a gentle way to start the city leg.

Day 5: Safari World + Bangkok Highlights

Give Day 5 to Safari World — the drive-through safari park and the marine shows together fill five to six hours and are a firm favourite with families. If you would rather see the historic city, swap in the Grand Palace and Wat Pho in the morning and the King Power Mahanakhon SkyWalk at sunset. Our Bangkok 3-day itinerary lays out the temple route, timings and food stops if you want the detail.

Day 6: Shopping and Departure

Use the last morning for shopping — Chatuchak Weekend Market if it is a Saturday or Sunday, otherwise a mall like Terminal 21 or ICONSIAM — before your airport transfer. Because both cities run off the same Bangkok airport, the departure is simple: no internal flight, no tight connection.

Why This Route Works and How to Book

The appeal of Bangkok plus Pattaya is its simplicity: one airport, a short road transfer, and a mix of beach, shows and city in under a week. It suits first-timers, families and groups who want maximum variety with minimum logistics. Indian and vegetarian food is easy in both cities, and Jain meals can be arranged on the boat trips with notice. To have the drives, activities and dinner cruise booked as one, use the 6-day package, or tweak the plan to add days or swap activities.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a domestic flight for Bangkok and Pattaya?

No. Pattaya is about 90 minutes by road from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport, so the whole trip runs off one airport with no internal flight. This is the main reason it is the easiest two-city Thailand itinerary for first-timers.

Is 6 days enough for Bangkok and Pattaya?

Comfortably. Three nights in Pattaya cover the beach, Coral Island and a show, and three in Bangkok cover a cruise, Safari World and the temples. If you want a slower pace or extra activities, a seventh day adds breathing room.

How far is Pattaya from Bangkok airport?

Roughly 120 km, or about 90 minutes to two hours by private car depending on traffic. A private transfer is the most comfortable option, especially with luggage and children, and avoids the wait for shared coaches.

Is this itinerary good for families with children?

Yes — it is one of the most family-friendly routes in Thailand. Safari World, Coral Island and the Alcazar show all suit children, the road transfers are short, and you can swap in water parks or the aquarium for younger kids. Private transfers mean no shared-coach waits.
