About this tour

After a day of temples and Bangkok traffic, the river is the easiest way to see the city without much effort. The Chao Phraya Dinner Cruise — one of our dinner cruises in Bangkok — pairs a relaxed two-hour sailing with a Thai seafood & international buffet dinner. The boat sails from Asiatique up the Chao Phraya, the wide river that splits the old city, to the Rama VIII Bridge and back, while the landmarks on both banks are lit for the evening.

The evening opens with a welcome Thai classical long-drum dance and Phang Prathip dance, a welcome drink and a snack on the table, and there is live music with a singer and saxophone on board. Drinking water, hot coffee and tea are included, plus a free drink offer: 4 adults get one free jug of draught Chang beer, or 6 adults get one free bottle of red wine. The boat has an open-air upper deck, better for photos and the breeze, and an air-conditioned lower deck. Let us know any dietary needs when you book and we will pass them to the operator.

The route passes several of the city's best-known riverside sights, each lit at night:

  • Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn): the spired riverside temple, washed in gold lighting against the dark water.
  • The Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew: the former royal complex, seen glowing from across the river.
  • Rama VIII Bridge: a single-pylon suspension bridge with cables fanning out from one tower.
  • ICONSIAM: the large riverfront mall whose facade lights carry across the water.

Check-in is at Asiatique The Riverfront, between Warehouse 7 and 8, from 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM. The cruise boards at Pier No. 1 and sails from 7:15 PM to 9:15 PM.

The pace suits most travellers — you stay seated, eat and watch the banks go by. Prefer an Indian buffet on board? That is our separate Chao Phraya Princess dinner cruise.

Quick tips for your trip

  • Recommended time to visit: This is an evening sailing only. Check in between 5:30 PM and 6:45 PM at Asiatique The Riverfront, between Warehouse 7 and 8. The cruise leaves Pier No. 1 at 7:15 PM and does not wait for late arrivals, so allow extra time for Bangkok's evening traffic.
  • Dress code: Smart casual. The setting is relaxed but tidy, so it is best to skip beachwear, shorts and flip-flops, particularly for men. Bring a light layer, since the open deck catches the wind on the water.
  • Photography tip: The open-air upper deck gives the clearest line of sight. The strongest stretch falls near the midpoint, as Wat Arun and the Grand Palace come into view under their night lighting, so keep your phone or camera ready.
  • Recommended visit duration: The sailing itself lasts two hours, 7:15 PM to 9:15 PM. Adding check-in beforehand (5:30 PM – 6:45 PM), set aside about three to four hours for the evening.

Frequently asked questions

  • What food is served on board?

A Thai seafood & international buffet dinner. The evening also includes a welcome drink and a snack on the table, drinking water by the glass, hot coffee and tea, a welcome Thai classical long-drum dance and Phang Prathip dance, and live music with a singer and saxophone. Tell us any dietary requirements on WhatsApp before the date and we will forward them to the operator. If you would prefer an Indian buffet on board, see our separate Chao Phraya Princess dinner cruise.

  • Are drinks included?

A welcome drink, drinking water by the glass, and hot coffee and tea are included. There is also a free drink offer: 4 adults get one free jug of draught Chang beer, or 6 adults get one free bottle of red wine. Other drinks are not included in the price.

  • Will this work for young children and older parents?

Yes. Nothing about the evening is strenuous, since guests are seated for dinner while the river and lit-up landmarks pass by. Older guests often prefer the air-conditioned lower deck — tell us when you book and we will ask the operator (seating depends on availability). The child price is ฿1,000 (versus ฿1,200 per adult) for children aged 5–10 and/or shorter than 110 cm, and infants aged 1–4 go free; tell us your children's ages on WhatsApp if you are not sure which price applies.

  • Where does the cruise board, and how long does it take from central Bangkok?

Check-in is at Asiatique The Riverfront, between Warehouse 7 and 8, and the cruise boards at Pier No. 1 there. From most central hotels the trip to Asiatique by Grab or metered taxi runs roughly 20 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic. You can also add our private hotel pickup & drop-off taxi in the booking box, from ฿1,200 per car.

  • What time is check-in, and what time does the cruise sail?

Check-in is open from 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM. The cruise sails from 7:15 PM to 9:15 PM, from Asiatique to the Rama VIII Bridge and back. Please be checked in by 6:45 PM — the boat does not wait for late arrivals.

  • Can I take photos, and which deck has the better view?

Photography is allowed throughout. The open-air upper deck offers the most open sightlines for shots of Wat Arun, the Grand Palace and the Rama VIII Bridge under their night lighting.

  • Does the price cover transport to the pier?

No — the cruise price covers the cruise and the buffet. A private round-trip taxi between your Bangkok hotel and Asiatique The Riverfront is an optional add-on in the booking box, priced per vehicle: Car Sedan ฿1,200 (up to 4 people), SUV ฿1,300 (up to 6) or Van ฿1,400 (up to 10). The cheapest vehicle, or combination, for your group is chosen automatically, and a booking with the taxi is paid in full online. We confirm the pickup time on WhatsApp so you reach check-in before 6:45 PM. Otherwise, a short Grab or metered taxi ride to Asiatique is straightforward.

  • Can I book the cruise on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day or Loy Krathong night?

No — these special nights are not available to book with us: Loy Krathong night (24 November 2026), Christmas Eve (24 December 2026), New Year's Eve (31 December 2026), Valentine's Day (14 February 2027), Loy Krathong night (13 November 2027), Christmas Eve (24 December 2027) and New Year's Eve (31 December 2027). They are closed in the booking calendar, so please choose another evening.

  • Can I book a private charter of the boat?

A private charter dinner cruise is quoted on request. Message us on WhatsApp with your date and group size and we will get a quote from the operator.

  • Can I book the cruise for today?

Yes, with the hotel pickup & drop-off taxi added in the booking box — same-day bookings with the taxi are open until 2:00 PM (Thailand time). Without the taxi, please book at least 1 day in advance.
