About this tour
SkyFlyers: Wings of Garudapterus is a giant swing ride on the Chao Phraya riverfront at Asiatique The Riverfront in Bangkok. The tower stands 135 metres tall — roughly 36 storeys — which makes it the tallest giant swing ride in Asia-Pacific and the first one in Thailand built on a riverbank. You are lifted in an open seat, the carousel turns, and for about three minutes there is nothing between you and a full circle of Bangkok: the river bending away beneath you, the bridges, and the towers of Silom and Sathorn on the skyline.
It opened at the end of November 2025 and has become one of the most photographed things to do in the city. Twenty-four people fly per round, so the queue moves in clear batches rather than one long shuffle.
What the Garudapterus theme actually is
The attraction is built around Garudapterus, a pterosaur presented as a new discovery — the story goes that it is the first of its kind identified in Southeast Asia. That premise shapes the whole approach. The ticket lounge is dressed as a working excavation site, there is a Hatchery where children can name a virtual hatchling, an Observatory Platform for watching the swing from the ground, and real fossils displayed in partnership with a Thai palaeontology museum. Children too short to ride still get something to do here, which matters if your group has a mix of heights.
Day flight or night flight?
Both work, and they are genuinely different rides. Afternoons give you the river traffic, the temples and the green on the far bank in clear light. Evenings give you the city switching on. If you only ride once, most people who have done both recommend the 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM window — you go up in the last of the daylight and come down over a lit city. The tower itself is lit at night, which is why almost every photo you have seen of it is after dark.
Is it frightening?
Less than it looks in photographs, by most accounts. The climb is slow and steady rather than a drop, the rotation is smooth, and you are in a fixed harness the whole way. Riders regularly describe it as thrilling rather than terrifying. That said, it is 135 metres in an open seat with your feet hanging — if heights genuinely frighten you, this is not the ride to test that on, and Bangkok has gentler viewpoints.
Getting to Asiatique
The simplest route is the BTS to Saphan Taksin (Silom Line), Exit 2, then the free Asiatique shuttle boat from Sathorn pier — it runs roughly every 30 minutes through the late afternoon and evening, and the ride down the river is part of the fun. A taxi or Grab to "Asiatique The Riverfront" works too; allow extra time in Bangkok's evening traffic. Buses 1, 15, 75 and 504 run along Charoen Krung Road. SkyFlyers sits at the far end of Asiatique from the big ferris wheel, so once you are through the gates keep walking towards the river.

Quick tips for your trip
- Book ahead — this is a hard rule, not advice. Your booking and payment must be completed at least 6 hours before you arrive, and flights do sell out on busy evenings. Walk-ups are turned away when the slots are full.
- You cannot take your phone on the ride. Nothing loose is allowed — no phone, camera, glasses, hat, bag or anything in your pockets. It all goes in a locker or stays with someone not riding. If you want footage, the counter rents action cameras for about ฿250; bring a card (they generally do not take cash), have your passport with you, and download the camera app before you get there because the on-site wifi struggles when it is busy. That rental queue can be long — join it before your slot, not after.
- Arrive early and check in first. Everyone has to check in at the ticketing counter for the safety briefing and to sign the waiver before boarding. Slots can also run late when it is busy, so build in some slack rather than booking a dinner cruise immediately after.
- Best light: aim for a 6:00–8:00 PM flight for the sunset-into-city-lights transition. That is also the busiest window, which is another reason to book early in the day.
- How long it takes: about three minutes in the air, but allow 45–60 minutes on site once you count check-in, the briefing, lockers and the queue.
- Rain: the ride runs in light rain and only pauses for genuinely bad weather. If you decide yourself that it looks too wet and skip your slot, that counts as a no-show and is not refunded — wait for the crew's call instead.

Frequently asked questions
-
How much does SkyFlyers cost?
A SkyFlyers admission ticket is ฿320 per person — the same as the price at the ticket booth, with no booking fee added. That covers one ride and the themed zone. Book through us and your slot is confirmed before you travel, so you are not relying on availability on the day.
-
What is the height restriction, and can my child ride?
Riders must be over 120 cm. A child between roughly 120 cm and 140 cm may ride but must be accompanied by an adult who also buys a ticket and flies with them — one ticket is not enough for that pair. Anyone under 20 needs a parent or guardian to sign the consent form at check-in. Height is measured at the entrance, so if your child is borderline, please plan for the possibility that they are turned away — the ticket is not refundable.
-
Can babies, toddlers or small children go on the ride?
No. There is no infant or toddler option — anyone under 120 cm cannot ride, and there is no lap-seating. Younger children can still come into the Garudapterus zone with you, name a hatchling at the Hatchery and watch the swing from the Observatory Platform while the rest of the family flies. If you want something the whole family can ride together, the Asiatique Sky ferris wheel at the other end of the same complex has no height limit.
-
Is there a weight limit or an upper age limit?
No weight figure is published and there is no maximum age. What actually decides it is the harness: if the safety restraint cannot be closed and locked properly on a rider, the crew will not let them fly. That applies at both ends of the scale.
-
Who should not ride for health reasons?
The ride is not permitted for anyone who is pregnant, or who has heart or cardiovascular conditions, back, neck or spinal problems, high blood pressure, asthma or other respiratory concerns, vertigo, motion sickness or panic disorder, or who has had recent surgery or an injury. It is also not suitable for guests whose mobility prevents the restraint being used properly. Nobody under the influence of alcohol or drugs is allowed to ride. If you are unsure, ask the crew at check-in before you go up.
-
What time is it open, and does it close on any day?
It runs every day, 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with the last flight at 9:30 PM — there is no weekly closing day. Hours can change without notice, and the ride pauses in bad weather. We reconfirm your slot on WhatsApp before your visit.
-
How long is the ride?
You are in the air for roughly three minutes. Plan on 45 to 60 minutes at the attraction in total, including check-in, the safety briefing, lockers and the queue for your slot.
-
Can I cancel or change my booking?
The ticket cannot be cancelled and is not refundable once it is issued, and a missed slot is charged in full. You can, however, change your visit date through the "Manage Booking" link in your e-ticket, subject to availability on the new date. If you need help with that, message us and we will sort it out with you.
-
Where exactly is it, and how do we get there?
It is at Asiatique The Riverfront on Charoen Krung Road, on the Chao Phraya in the Bang Kho Laem district. Take the BTS to Saphan Taksin, leave by Exit 2, and hop on the free Asiatique shuttle boat from Sathorn pier — it runs about every half hour in the late afternoon and evening. Taxi or Grab works too. We can add hotel pick-up and drop-off for a fee; send us your hotel name on WhatsApp.
-
What else can we do at Asiatique on the same evening?
Plenty, which is why most people make an evening of it. Jurassic World: The Experience is a walkthrough at the same venue, the Asiatique Sky ferris wheel is at the far end, the Calypso Cabaret show runs there, and several Chao Phraya dinner cruises board from the Asiatique pier — so a 6:00 PM flight and a dinner cruise afterwards fit together neatly.
